URL Flags, Click2Call UK, GVoicePrints, YouTube Yahoo, Answers UK, GCache, adCenter 100k, Image Labeler & More
Today is Labor Day, I worked most of the day... All the search engines seem to have some sort of representation that it is Labor Day in the US, except for Google. Ask.com has tips for BBQs, Yahoo! and MSN are portals so they have some mention of Labor Day on the home page but Google.com has nothing. I personally came into the office at 8am, instead of 6:30ish, and I hope to leave a bit early today also, maybe even by 4:30pm, we will see. On to the search topics I covered today...
Matt Cutts talked about how mass amounts of URL changes can raise a red flag, something that most ordinary Webmasters can only dream of triggering. I reported on the launch of Google's Click to Call program in the UK. Speaking of the UK, Yahoo! launched the Yahoo! Answers product in the UK today. On the Yahoo! front, their Treasurer left them for the up and coming YouTube. The last bit of impressive news today, I would consider, Google's ability to "fingerprint" a voice to identify the ads to display on a particular PC.
I also covered that Google has agreed to finally hand over the data on Orkut users that has been stored in the US. AdWords has a bug that will linger for the next several days. adCenter allows for 100,000 keywords per account. I caught myself playing that Google Image Labeler game again. And finally, Google handles the cache landing page differently for the supplemental index versus the main index.
