Today's downtime with Bloglines pushed me over the edge and I decided to fire up Google Reader again.
(1) I have updated my Google Reader OPML file to that of Bloglines.
(2) I then went through all recent Google Reader threads and marked them all as read.
(3) I added a bookmark next to my Bloglines bookmark on my toolbar.
Now, whenever I look at one RSS reader, I will then look at the next RSS reader. I calculate it will probably take me 30 - 50% more time to get through my feeds this way. But I am going to do it for two weeks or until I can. This way I can seriously test the two.
Already I have made modifications to Google Reader:
(1) I only show updated subscriptions on left pane.
(2) I switched from expanded view to list view on right pane.
(3) I only show updated subscriptions on right pane.
I am sure I will make more modifications soon...
Yes, Google Reader does place more load on my browser and computer. But maybe it was because I had thousands of unread feeds.
I am willing to give this switch a serious test. So here it goes.
Oh, Google, please find me an Apple Dashboard Widget notifier.

Hi Barry,
I'm glad to hear that you're trying out Google Reader; I hope you'll like it. There is no dashboard widget that I'm aware of, but Troels Bay has written a Mac notifier:

It isn't supported by Google in any way, but it works nicely. Feel free to shoot me an email if you have any questions or feedback.
Cheers,

Thanks Nick.
I had a feeling you would stop by eventually, just makes sense and from what I hear about you - this is your thing...
Yes, I saw that notifier. But it is not a dashboard widget. Ill probably make my own...
But thanks again.
