Google Reader Is My Official Backup RSS Reader to Bloglines
Since RSS is critical in my daily life, I decided to have a backup RSS reader.
As you know, I have had trouble on occasion with Bloglines. It is expected that programs some times blink out, so to help not miss a beat, I decided to use Bloglines as my main reader and Google Reader as my backup reader.
How does this work?
I continue to use Bloglines as I normally do. But after I get through my morning feed runs, I will use my Google Reader Dashboard Widget to click over to Google Reader and mark all items as read. I may do this a few times throughout the day, after I know I have seen everything in Bloglines.
This way, if something does go wrong with Bloglines, I know I have very little overlap or missed feeds in Google Reader, to fall back on. Yes, this means I need to export my OPML file from Bloglines to Google Reader every now and then, but it is not a huge deal. I consider this like any backup procedure, RSS is just that important to me.
Do you have a RSS backup solution?
