I have been testing and comparing Google Reader versus Bloglines as my primary reader for some time now. The history goes back a while, but you can start here and then click back through the links to see that I finally switched over to Google Reader from Bloglines.

I never compared the mobile versions of Google Reader & Bloglines. So I figured I do a post right now on that. I am not a heavy mobile RSS reader, I would say I used the mobile RSS readers a few times per week - i.e. when I am out and I am bored (see Streaming the Daily Search Cast Podcast at the Mall.

Summary on Intro Pages for Bloglines versus Google Reader Mobile Edition:
Google Reader Mobile does allow you to see "starred" items as well as view the folder/categories (i.e. tags) for items unread by folder or category. But it requires an additional click. It would be nice to set this as a preference. But this is not a huge deal, I can always bookmark the /tags page instead and use that. So you can get to almost all the information Bloglines provides on the first page, but it takes one extra click.

Let's take a look inside now.

Summary on Item View Pages for Bloglines versus Google Reader Mobile Edition:
While I like the features on Bloglines, some may be overkill and slow things down. I do not need to see the feed summary when I am viewing an individual item in that feed. The other features are nice to have and I wish Google would add them. I also find a preview of the next unread item in your feeds at the bottom of the item feed view useful and would recommend Bloglines add that to their mobile edition.

Conclusion:
Overall, I find Bloglines Mobile to have more features that I would use while reading my mobile feeds. It is, however, not enough to make me switch back to Bloglines. As I said, I do not use mobile RSS as often as when I am at my office or on my computer at home.
