I just downloaded TextExpander from Smile on my Mac and I am now testing it live.
I often type the same things over and over again. Such as code to quote people. Here is an example of me showing you how blockquote works.
TextExpander saves you countless keystrokes with customized abbreviations for your frequently-used text strings and images.
With the Search Engine Roundtable I often type the same things, such as using phrases like "Forum discussion at" and then hyperlink to a forum such as Cre8asite Forums or DigitalPoint Forums or Search Engine Watch Forums or WebmasterWorld. So this should speed things up.
There are dozens of keystrokes I can automate. This is my first real test. The time is 2:32 PM.
Here is the video how I typed this entry.
As you can see, I was a bit distracted while typing away. But from this, you can see how I actually blog, well - blog while knowing people are watching over my shoulder.

Barry, that is cool. Great idea for a way to present it - a video on YouTube. Perfect.
Best,

My wife works at home as a medical transcriptionist. She gets paid by the line of text. She uses a word expander program to boost her productivity. She has keyboard shortcuts for all sorts of common medical terms and other things like Hospital names and addresses, etc.
Typing in the doctors initials will expand into the full name, typing in common phrases like “the patient” or “Pupils were normal and responsive” has a keyboard shortcut, anything hard to spell has a keyboard shortcut, etc…
She uses about 500 keyboard shortcuts.
You might also be able to develop a plugin like link-a-dink to replace common words and phrases with links. http://wordpress-plugins.biggnuts.com/link-a-dink/
Aloha,
Dave.
