Remember, I said I was trying out CallWave? It is basically a service that overrides your cell phone provider's voicemail services and replaces it with theirs. They add more features and conveniences.
So I stuck with it.
The other day, I noticed I got a weird text message. It turned out that the text message was a new feature from CallWave that turns converts a voicemail to text. In the past, CallWave would text message me that I got a voicemail from person a, at this time and for this long. Now, they send that, plus they convert the voice message to a text message. I love it.
I can now see, immediately, what the message was all about, via a text message.
The example here, shows a message someone left me. Funny how they converted the word, "Kleenex" to "Clean Acts" - but I understood it.
I love the widget CallWave has also.

I've been using Simulscribe for this, but it sends full-length emails. I get messages that easily pop the SMS length limits and would rather not have so many SMSs broken up.
It's struggling with accents, but ROCKS anyway. You don't realize how SLOPPY people are when they are speaking until you try to use voice recognition on it.
But...I get, silently, all of my voice mails delivered to me via my Blackberry email, and can forward them to whomever should handle each item. It's much like having someone hand you a note while you're working. So it acts like a secretary, transcribing and writing down messages to hand to you.
Simply delivering sound files has none of these advantages of course.
People have been doing that for years.

Another voice to text app you should try out is Jott. It allows you to send text via phone by calling their 1-877 number, saying who you want to jott, voice your message, and hang up! You can Jott yourself, a friend, or a group. Great use if you have your hands tied, in the car, or want to leave yourself a quick note to get to later. Jott also gives you the option to hear the audio recording of the message. AND ITS FREE!! :)
