Honestly, I likely won't but should I? I am fairly lazy about my appearance on a daily basis. I am not lazy overall, I work hard, but when it comes to appearance, I am lazy.
The picture of me here is from when I didn't shave in a few weeks. Yea, no haircut for a while also. I bet my wife will kill me later for posting it...
So, what you think? Go for a beard?
Take the poll.

Yes! - And grow your hair out. Just ware a baseball-cap until you can put the bangs into a pony tail.
My wife would probably leave me if I did that but I can always live vicariously through others.

Go for the beard, Barry! Go for the beard! When you grow a beard, you join an exclusive club of Men With Beards. It's worth it.

PROS:
1. You'll certainly fit in with many of your neighbors.
2. Your wife will feel less "home" sick since you'll look more like her father.
3. You'll be less conspicuous when you visit your brother in Israel (though you'll probably have to shave your head to complete the look)
4. Men with long unkempt beards tend to find goodies from meals past that could come in handy should you ever get stuck on a desert island.
CONS:
1. More time stuck at the airport getting cavity checked since you'll just look like a whacked out terrorist.
2. More hair. More mess. More to worry about (in fact, maybe you should just shave it all!)

Thanks for laying it all out there.

Your brother in law makes some good points about the cons. If you let it get long enough airport security will constantly pick you out for "random" security checks.
And, it actually is a surprisingly lot of work to maintain a beard (unless you don't mind looking like Grizzly Adams). It's less time in the morning than shaving everyday, but you do have to trim it at least once a week to keep it from looking messy and unkempt.
