Yesterday, someone asked me if the Search Engine Roundtable's traffic is down. I said no, why? He explained that the Alexa chart showed a decline in traffic.
I decided to plot that graph with true Google Analytics data, to see if there was a decline. Here it is:
The bolder blue line is Google Analytics and the chart behind it is from Alexa. I just overlaid the Google Analytics line over Alexa.
So what is with the decline in Alexa in May? Alexa updated their ranking system. So the new chart, I guess, wasn't normalized with the old chart.

Wow,
That's just sloppy work on Alexa's part.
Considering the major function of this chart is to deliver that information they need to make it clear that they've changed things.
To fail in such a major way is very sloppy work on their part.

Did you expect anything different? Alexa is garbage.

But be careful of Google too! We saw a big difference in Google Analytics against a number of other analytic services. Google was way way down. So much so that we stopped using them and have reports from four other services to show people.
Our main site is www.FilmIndustryBloggers.com and we've seen a drop over the last month in Alexa but our analytics are showing steady.
Cheers,
