3 weeks ago, I told you that My Linksys Wireless-G Travel Router Died. So I initiated a chat session with Linksys tech support, they gave me an RMA (return merchandise authorization) number, and I mailed back the broken router via UPS to Linksys.
Two weeks later, they got it and backordered the replacement. Two days after that, they shipped out the replacement. Today, three weeks later, I received the replacement router.
It actually seems brand new. It may be refurbished but it doesn't seem so. I set it up in a matter of minutes and it is ready to go, when I need it.
I keep it in my RustyBrick bag with me at all time. You never know when you need a wireless router or ethernet cable.
All in all, the return process was painless. Took a bit longer then I would like, but it was very easy.

Okay, I give up - what's the use of a travel wireless router? is it just a signal booster wherever you have an open network or does the internet really "live" inside this thing?

If your in a hotel and you have an ethernet connection but want to go wireless, you plug the ethernet into it and it will broadcast wireless.
If you have a wireless connection and you want to boost that connection, it also does that.
