So Verizon installed today, all went pretty smoothly. So after the install, I had to call Cable Vision and Vonage to make sure my services would be disconnected.
I called Vonage, and after a really long time I got someone on the phone. That person took all my information down and then had to get a manager to process the disconnect.
When that person came on, they told me I would be charged a cancellation fee. It came out to just under $100. After arguing a bit, I said, fine - charge me.
So how can you save 50% on your Vonage? Easy. She offered me the same plan and service for $14.95, as opposed to the $29.95 I was paying.
So call Vonage, ask for disconnect, and then tell them, you scheduled Verizon or your cable company to install the triple play or whatever. They will argue with you and then give you a better price.
So call now and save $15 a month, this way I feel that my $100 disconnect wasn't completely wasted.
When I called CableVision, they didn't give me an issue or charge me a fee. They asked why? I told them, "I wanted to be fair and give the other guys a shot." The rep laughed and said okay.

Vonage is a nightmare to cancel with. They basically told me no. It was next to impossible.
