I caved and I purchased the Sony HDR-XR200V on Friday. I did not receive this camera yet, but I have been struggling with the video camera purchase decision for just about a month.
I decided I would wait for the model I was eying, namely the HDR-SR12 to be discontinued. I heard Sony was releasing a new model, aka, the HDR-XR200V this month. I was planning on contacting the stores that sell those cameras and asking them if they have a discount on the SR12, since it is old.
So on Friday I contacted like 15 stores and they all told me they either didn't have it or had so few that they cannot give a discount. But one was willing to give me a crazy good deal on the HDR-XR200V, I assume because they had a boat load in inventory. So I ordered the HDR-XR200V for a few hundred dollars less then the SR12 was selling for.
The HDR-XR200V is really new, it ships today for the first time. So there are no reviews or complaints about it yet. So there is a risk. But the HDR-XR200V is an upgrade to the SR12 and it is supposed to improve the SR12 and add some features.
Some cool features include the GPS stuff, so it tags my location as I take pictures. Plus it has improved low light video capture, which was the only "good" and not "great" rating the SR12 had.
I am excited to get it and give it a try. I assume I will use it a lot on the Israel Blogger delegation trip I take in less than two weeks. Then I will use it for my search videos and a lot of family purposes.

Just wondering what retailer hooked it up, I am in the market for a camcorder myself.
