I wouldn't call myself an uber-geek, but I definitely strive towards that label. That being said, my wife was in my office one day and I had to earn some "husband points." I forget why I needed points, but all married men always need to tally up the "points" whenever they can.
So in my geek way, I decided to label her email folder. The folder I keep her emails related to her and us in, as ♥ Yisha. To do so, I looked up the HTML entity for a heart and copied it into my mail folder name. It looks like this in HTML entities ♥
Not only did it bring her folder at the top of my personal folders (i.e. making her #1 to me), it also put a heart near her name (i.e. showing all that affectionate stuff).
Only problem with me blogging this is that she will now read it and I will likely lose all the points I gained from doing it in the first place, plus get point deductions. So I am sacrificing my points to help other geek husbands out there.

lol, I hope I don't get discovered via this comment and then loose points for copying someone else...

What about helping geek wives earn points for non-geek husbands? ;-)

I put "1_" in front of more important filters in Gmail, so putting the ♥ bumps it up to the very top. Thanks!

Barry that is as geeky a husband point as you ever will earn!
Is there any chance you can work out a way to do something that appears on EBay, as THAT is the only place MY wife would see it !

Long time no speak, Old Welsh Guy. Hope all is well!

I'm sure that no points will be lost. It takes a very creative geek, who really loves his wife to come up with that. Blogging about it doesn't take away from that, but it might make you uber ;-)

So sweet! The other day I SSH'ed from my laptop while my my wife was on the MAC in the basement. I used the command 'say' followed by text. Like:
>say hello there this is your computer talking
I freaked her out good, she screamed up to me "Ron the computer is talking to me". We had a good laugh. Try it out !

Nice one Barry. Of course I'm using Microsoft software so this doesn't work for me.
