Improved Map Feature for iPhone Siddur

One thing we were able to improve on the Siddur due to the 3.0 iPhone software release was the map feature. We added a native Apple Google Map directly into the Siddur and plotted where some of our Siddur users are using it right at the moment that you are looking at the map.

The main difference that you will notice is the speed of the map loading and the responsiveness of the zoom and panning through the maps.

Here are the new maps:

Setting YouTube Movies to Enable Revenue Sharing

YouTube began pushing their YouTube Partner Program to Google News publishers, which the Search Engine Roundtable is part of. So I signed up today and was approved.

I then hooked up my AdSense account to it and then agreed to the terms of service, which was actually a hoot - the way they took you through the rules and made sure you read the copyright rules over and over again.

In any event, I am now fully set up and I can now "enable revenue sharing" on my videos. The cool part is that you can pick and choose the videos you want to enable the revenue sharing on. Here is how to do it.

(1) Go to my videos

(2) Click on the "Enable Revenue Sharing" button under the video(s) you want to enable it on:

YouTube Revenue Sharing

(3) Fill in a description about the video and read those terms again. Do note, if YouTube reviews the video and it has legal issues (copyright, etc), they will completely remove it:

YouTube Revenue Sharing

Then you are done. YouTube may eventually add ads to it or they might remove your video.

How do you know if the video is enabled with revenue share? Two ways:

(1) You no longer see the "enable revenue sharing" button on the my videos page.

or

(2) You see a "Tube" Partner logo on the video view page:

YouTube "Tube Partner"

Example, see my iPhone Popcorn Trick video page, and look for that tube logo.

Rackspace Doubles Twitter Followers With 45 Minute Outage

Rackspace on TwitterLast night, at about 4:30pm (EST), thousands of servers went offline due to Rackspace's Dallas data center having a major power management issue. The issue is not 100% clear yet, you can read what Rackspace had to say at their blog.

When my sites and servers went down, I first went to Rackspace to login to my account. But I couldn't access the site. So I then tried calling, but I was getting a busy signal, due to the volume of people calling. I then tried Twitter and found @rackspace there. There were no updates yet, but I followed @rackspace and waited.

I then saw the first tweet that read "We are having an issue that is affecting part of our DFW data center. No details yet. Will update as we get more information." More followed. Twitter Search was swarming with mentions of [rackspace], so it was good to know I was in good company. I noticed people began to say there sites were coming back up, which meant mine was coming up soon also. I assume they began flipping on the power to the servers slowly until all came on.

The most incredible part was that @Rackspace doubled their twitter followers. Before the outage, they had about 1,300 followers and now they have over 2,300. Like I tweeted yesterday, "Expensive way to get @rackspace more followers ;-)." That tweet was when Rackspace had about 1,300 followers.

In any event, I always find it interesting how my customers react to outages. We haven't had an outage in a really long time. But when this happened, some emailed, some IMed, some called. Some of the ones that called were not happy. I wasn't happy either, but I told them what I knew and sometimes that is not good enough, sometimes it is.

The outage, I believe, lasted about 40 minutes or so. Was it the end of the world? No, but it wasn't something that should be accepted. Will I switch from RackSpace? Probably not. They have been the most stable and most responsive company in this space I have ever dealt with and trust me, I have been with many and I spend a fortune on this stuff.

Really Local Doctors

doctorI am not a big fan of going to doctors. I am not a big fan of going anywhere but my office, to be honest. So when I need to go to doctors, I tend to like to go really local.

By "really local" I mean, within the same office building as RustyBrick. In fact, my general doctor and my dentist (who I really need to see) are both in my office building. My dentist is on the same floor, just down the hall. My doctor is a floor up.

Why do I like really local doctors? Because they are better! No, I am kidding. In fact, I think one of them is actually not that great of a doctor.

I like them because I don't have to sit and wait in a waiting room. Some of my old doctors, I had to sit for hours before seeing them. I don't like the, sit and wait game.

These doctors (dentist) call me when they are ready. They say, the doctor is ready in a few minutes and that I should walk into their office. I then walk into the doctors office, bypass all the people waiting and go into the room to where I will be treated.

I always feel some guilt when I walk pass the people who have been waiting, but I go really local for that reason.

My Facebook URL Is /barryschwartz

For those that want to friend me on Facebook, so that I can annoy them with updates, you can now reach me at facebook.com/barryschwartz.

I don't use Facebook like a good Facebook citizen, I use it like a spammer. So I warn you.

I don't post useful pictures there. I don't talk to friends on there. I'll ignore your Facebook messages. I won't reply to Facebook IMs. I am the evil Facebook user.

I only go on to /reqs to accept friend requests. I pretty much accept everyone, so no one gets insulted.

YouTube Now Allowing 20GB Uploads?

When did YouTube begin allowing the upload of files over 1GB? I now see that I can upload up to 20GB in file size, up from the 1GB limit that was announced in September 2008. I cannot find any mentions of 20GB YouTube upload limits mentioned anywhere...

Here is a screen capture of me breaking the 1GB barrier:

YouTube 20GB File Size

Here is a picture of the "About Uploading" section that tells me the limit is now up to 20GB!

YouTube 20GB File Size

Do you see the same thing?

Oh, since you are here, why not follow me on Twitter @rustybrick. ;-)

Update: So I checked a different YouTube account and this shows only 2GB. Still up from the 1GB file size, but not the 20GB limit my main account has:

Get Keynote Presentation Mode Working in GoToMeeting

I have been utilizing GoToMeeting pretty often these days. I had one major issue where I was unable to show my slideshows in presentation mode while using GoToMeeting and Apple Keynote. Whenever I flipped on presentation mode, the person on the other side would see black.

After some trouble shooting with the GoToMeeting support team, they said they know of a work around. So to save you all time, here is what you need to do.

(1) Open Keynote
(2) Go to the "Preferences" section
(3) Click on "Slideshow" tab
(4) Check off "Allow Exposé, Dashboard and others to use screen"

Keynote & GoToMeeting

Then GoToMeeting should show your presentation in presentation mode. Do keep in mind that the GoToMeeting presentation tool where people can ask questions, does not display to the presenter in presentation mode.

Hopefully this will help others with the same question.

I Am Not In Jail, But I Got A Speeding Ticket

Cop Pulled Me OverLast night, I left work a bit early cause I had a late night conference call and I wanted to be home a bit earlier so I can be ready for it. Oh boy - did I pay for leaving work at 5:30ish. On the way home, I got a pulled over by a cop for going, as he put it on the ticket, 44 in a 30 speed zone. My fault for not seeing the cop, my fault for being the last car in the line of cars going 44.

The funny part of getting this ticket was that after the cop took my license, insurance and registration and went back into his car to issue me a speeding ticket, I decided to tweet it. I wrote:

Err. Cop pulled me over. http://twitpic.com/8bdyt

Then I began getting responses of support and encouragement. Some people thought I may have been in trouble. Was it a drug bust? Did I rob a bank? Did I leave comment spam on Matt's blog? No, no, no! I just got a speeding ticket.

The officer was actually nice. He told me to plead not guilty, see him in court and work out a deal. I said thank you and he said, have a good night.

How many people have tweeted that they got a ticket and snapped a picture of the cop as they write the ticket? Not many.

Preview of Mizrach Compass for iPhone Siddur

Mizrach Compass for iPhone SiddurOne of the features we always wanted on the iPhone Siddur, but could not bring to until the release of the iPhone 3GS was a Mizrach compass.

Basically, Mizrach means east and that is the direction most Jews pray, depending on your current location. In America, you point eastward because that is the direction of Jerusalem or the Kodesh Hakodashim. When you are in Israel, you might not pray eastward, depending on your current location. So this compass plots the longitude and latitude of the Kodesh Hakodashim (the most widely accepted opinion) and then based on your current long/lat and direction (based on the digital compass in the 3GS), we point you in that direction.

Here is a preview of how it works on my iPhone 3GS. We hope to release it shortly.

iPhone Safari's Huge Issue With Hebrew Fonts

We were incredibly excited for the 3.0 iPhone software to come out, but it was a major let down for us. Yes, Apple now officially "support" Hebrew, but the Hebrew support is a joke. We wanted this update because many of our applications are Jewish focused. In fact, Hebrew rendered fasted on 2.x then it does in 3.x. The vowels (aka Nekudot) are still off, and the speed is horrible.

We built an application that loads a page of Hebrew text in mobile Safari. I put two iPhone 3G devices next to each other, one running 2.x and the other running 3.x and you can see how much slower the 3.x is running. In fact, it is a full 7 seconds slower.

Just how crazy is that? I submitted this bug to Apple time and time again. The bug ID is 6869094 and you can also submit it at this page.

What I Did On My First Father's Day

Father's Day - OnesieYesterday was my first Father's Day as a father. I wanted to remember what I did on that day, so I figured I do a blog post that documents it.

(1) At 1am, I wrote a Father's Day post at my search blog.
(2) Woke up relatively early for a Sunday.
(3) Went to Doctor to check if I am still sick
(4) Got an okay bill of health a couple hours later
(5) Went to work where I blogged more, did payroll, taxes, and misc work
(6) Got home at about noon and greeted family
(7) My baby got dressed in the onesie that I have a picture of above (nice wife)
(8) My baby gave me a Father's Day card
(9) Went to my Dad to give him his BBQ grill for his Father's Day
(10) Spent two hours building it
(11) Went to Babies R Us
(12) Back to my parents for a Father's Day BBQ on his new grill
(13) Came home
(14) Had evening business conference call
(15) Went to sleep

That was my day, if I remember it correctly.

Overall, a nice first Father's Day!

Written Up in BusinessWeek on Twitter Impostor

BW Saving Face OnlineBusinessWeek wrote a piece named Saving Face Online, which I believe is in the paper magazine this week. It really covers me a lot, and also Andy Beal, but mostly me. ;-)

In any event, it is basically about when I had a Twitter impersonator. It also covers how someone tried to use Gmail to impersonate me also.

I'll have to pick up the print edition, if I don't get it already. I think I normally get BusinessWeek delivered, we will see.

Lots of good press for RB over the past week or so.

How to Activate Your New iPhone 3GS

iPhone AT&T Activation FailureI have been plagued with the wait 48 hours to be activated message, like many of you. So I was reading the Apple forums and they said, you need to speak to an activation person at AT&T. So I did and it worked. Do this, step by step:

(1) Call 800-331-0500

(2) Dial 0 and then 0 again

(3) Ask the customer rep nicely to activate you.

(4) Give them your SIM Card # and IMEI. To find this quickly, go to "Settings" on your iPhone, click on "General," then "About." The "ICCID" is your SIM card and the one above that, IMEI is the other number they need.

(5) They will ask you to shut down your phone, wait 30 seconds and turn it on.

(6) When the phone turns back on, you should be activated.

LAST item is to make sure your voicemail works. Just call your number, with area code and leave yourself a voice. It will then prompt you a minute later to enter your voicemail password and then your voicemail should work.

Enjoy!

iPhone 3GS Producing "High Quality" YouTube Video

So I just got my iPhone 3GS (3.5 hours ago) and still having activation issues but I thought I test out the video camera.

So I captured two videos with this iPhone. One I uploaded directly from the iPhone to YouTube and the other I downloaded to my desktop via USB. The direct to YouTube does not produce as high a quality video, as compared to the desktop downloaded version. In fact, the one I downloaded from my iPhone to my desktop over USB is HQ (high quality) compatible with YouTube. The one I uploaded directly to YouTube via the iPhone was compressed more and not HQ compatible.

Here is the HQ one:

Notice the "HQ" button in the play bar after you hit play.

Here is direct to YouTube via phone:

I am a bit sick, so please excuse my appearance.

iPhone 3GS Activation Delay Due to AT&T Volume

I just got my new iPhone and I go through the steps to activate it. Guess what, I am told that AT&T's servers are too busy with activating iPhones. I will have to wait for mine to be activated. Let me take you through the unboxing and then failure of activation message.

Google Sent Us A Baby Gift

In my last Search in Pictures column, I showed off a Google Baby Hat, and then tweeted that I would love one of those for my baby. Well, Adam Lasnik of Google, sent over a Google onesie and baby blanket. I assume it is from the Google search quality and webmaster central team - so thank you all!

Adam, I know you tried to get the hat and I appreciate that. I am sure my wife and the baby will prefer the onesie and blanket over the hat. Here is a picture:

Google Baby Gift (onesie, Blanket, Letter)

Thanks so much!

There are many of you who actually sent me gifts. I didn't blog about most of you, but trust me, thank you. I may blog about some of the other gifts, like the Chocolate Bassinet from Oh Nuts or Best of the Web onesie and some of the other wonderful gifts the search industry sent.

Thank you all so much!

Jewish Press Features RustyBrick's Jewish iPhone Apps

RustyBrick iPhone Apps in Jewish PressA couple weeks ago, Yoni Glatt, a writer from the Jewish Press spent about an hour interviewing us about our iPhone apps, specifically about our Jewish iPhone Apps.

That article is now live on both the web and print version. If you do get the Jewish Press or want to pick up a copy (only a $1), you can find the write up on page 27. If you have no way of buying a copy, you can see the web version titled How Apple Made Me A Better Jew. It is an extremely nice and positive article about our apps, as well as some of the other Jewish apps available in the iTunes store.

I personally love the introductory paragraph, which I actually hear often from our customers:

Over the past few weeks, I've become an improved Jew. I learn more, say more brachos, bench more, and didn't have a problem remembering the day in the Omer. I haven't been to Israel recently, didn't have a near death experience that reawakened my spiritual side, nor did I feel empty in my life and decided I needed to search for more meaning. So what caused this recent growth spurt in my Judaism? I got an iPod touch.

Thank you Yoni for the write up!

Today I am back in the office. I probably won't be here all day, but I need to prepare for my iPhone arriving tomorrow ;-). In any event, I am pretty much isolated in my little office here and I posted a sign to make sure the RBers stay away.

Do you think this sign will do the trick?

Siddur iPhone OS 3.0 Tested

We got lucky, Apple approved our iPhone Siddur today, the day of the release of version 3.7 of our Siddur. This version is officially 3.0 tested by Apple. Here is a screen capture:

Siddur iPhone 3.0 Tested

Version 3.6 runs incredibly slowly in OS 3.0, so make sure to upgrade to version 3.7 immediately. The only issue is that Apple's iTunes Store seems to be having major issues, so hopefully you will be able to get the update soon.

The next version we release will have many more features and we will label it version 4.0 (that is unless we need to sneak out a quick update for bug fixes to 3.7). To suggest changes to the Siddur, please use Google Moderator.

Apple/AT&T To Refund Me $200 For iPhone 3GS

I was completely prepared to pay the $200 premium for the new iPhone 3GS, when I heard rumors that AT&T and Apple would refund people who are eligible (or close to it) the $200 premium).

Just minutes ago, I received an email from Apple telling me they will refund me $200 within 5 days. In fact, this would make a total of $500 in refunds for all my iPhone purchases. With my iPhone 2G, AMEX gave me $200 back and then Apple gave me $100, totally $300. Now, I am getting a $200 credit for the 3GS, totally $500 back in total.

Last year, the phone sold for the discount anyway, so no official refund on those.

Here is the email:

To Our Valued Apple Customer:

On June 17, AT&T announced a change to their upgrade eligibility policy
and ‘best upgrade pricing’ for qualifying iPhone 3G owners.

Based on AT&T’s updated qualification criteria, we are pleased to inform
you that you are eligible to receive a refund on your recent
iPhone 3G S purchase.

Your Order Acknowledgment and Shipment Notification emails will reflect
the original purchase price. However, Apple will issue you a refund in
the amount of $200.00, which is the difference between your original
purchase price and the new qualifying price.

Apple will process your refund in the next 5 days, and will send you an
email when this has been completed. We will process your refund based
on your original payment method. See below for details.

No additional action is needed on your part for you to receive the
refund. These activities will not impact your estimated delivery dates.

You can view the most up-to-date status of your order, including
monitoring the details of your refund, at online Order Status
.

Thank you for choosing Apple.

Sincerely,
Apple Online Store Team

I May or May Not Have The Flu

TamifluYesterday morning I felt sick. I decided to leave work early, at about 3pm, to head home and rest. This morning, the doctor called to tell me he has an opening in the afternoon.

So I just got back from the doctor and he said, I may or may not have the flu. My temperature is just about 100º. I did have some body ache, but honestly, I feel pretty good now. He decided, even though, I don't have all or many of the symptoms to put me on Tamiflu.

The worst part of this is that I cannot spend time with my baby girl, nor can I help my wife with the baby.

Neighborhood Kids & Family Kids Reading My Blog

kids on computerI know prospects and clients read my personal blog, even though I go out of my way to not tell most of them about it. In fact, I blogged about the risks of blogging when clients or prospects read my blog.

I did not tell you that I found out, that over the past months/years, that kids are reading my blog. Not just any random kids, but my nephews, nieces and kids in the community.

  • My brother-in-law on my wife's side told me a few weeks back that his oldest daughter goes to my blog and reads it every now and then.
  • My nephew (Sisters kid) told me that he reads my blog and so do the others.
  • A mother in my community who goes to the same synagogue as I do told me his son reads my blog every day.

When I hear stuff like that, I first thing --- I hope I didn't write anything not kid appropriate. There is a lot of risk knowing what you write can be seen by kids, and not just any kids, but family and kids you know.

I guess if there was anything I said that was not appropriate it would be more up to the parents to know about it and stop their kids from reading my blog or any site that they don't feel is appropriate. But at the same time, then I have parents and family thinking that what I do or write is not kid appropriate, which can be bad.

All in all, I don't think I have that issue on any of my blogs - so keep on reading!

Offensive Parking: Really Offensive

After work last night, I come out of my office, walk to my car and notice that it would be impossible for me to get in via the driver side doors. I really got mad, really mad. What a lack of consideration and respect for others. I was actually thinking of jamming my door into this guys door over and over again, until his car moved. But I calmed myself and went to the other side of the car and climbed through the passenger side. Understand, my car is pretty small and I am not.

Here is a picture of this guys disrespectful and offensive parking job. And if you know who's car this is, forward him the email. I am still mad about it.

Back to Basketball After 4 Weeks

basketballLast night was the first time I played basketball in about four weeks.

When I became a dad, about four weeks ago, I really didn't realize how tiring it would be. Don't get me wrong, my kid is great. She doesn't complain a ton, only when she wants something. But new babies are a handful.

Last night I got some pretty good sleep - thanks to the wife. In fact, the wife does most the heavy lifting all day and all night. But I guess I am a light sleeper and any noise kind of wakes me up. Last night was good though.

Back to basketball. I normally play at nights and for the past four weeks, thinking about going out to play ball at 9pm was beyond a possibility. Last night, I thought I wouldn't make it, but I did. I didn't play all that much simply cause I was running down the court and sleeping at the same time. But things will get better and I am glad I went.

Hope to keep the basketball streak going now.

Charities Walking Into My Office & Asking For Money

charity handI don't know how to write this in a nice way. Every now and then, a random person (sometimes two people together) walks into my office, looking for money for the charity they collect for.

Typically it works like this...

The person(s) walk in, look around, walk past the front area where 3 people sit. They peek into the various offices and find me. They find me, I guess because of my door sign and then they don't ask me if I have a minute, they just close my door and sit down in the chair(s) on the opposite end of my desk.

No matter what I am doing, they just sit down and start talking to me.

They ask about me, where I grew up, etc. It is often hard to be not nice to them and yell at them to leave. Why? Well, often they are older people and I have this strong thing about respect, especially respecting older people. So I try to be nice and patient.

In fact, I am not too nice to sales people who solicit when there are no soliciting signs. But in a sense, these people looking for money for their charities are soliciting as well and yes, there is a no soliciting sign posted in the building.

After they are done talking, I try with the utmost respect to tell them that this is not the right place or time to do this. Some times I tell them they cannot just walk into an office, unannounced, and take up people's time. But I only do that if they keep coming back.

I rarely ever give money to people who ask for charity in my office. I do in other places, i.e. outside super markets, in synagogue, my home, etc but not in my office.

Also, I give a nice amount of my money to charity. At least 15% of my income goes to charity of some sort. It is called צדקה Tzedakah in Hebrew.

There just seems something wrong with someone walking in without calling, asking for money. But I always feel bad turning them away.

Order New iPhone 3GS Today

iPhone 3GSYea, I am a sucker. I ordered the new iPhone 3GS, even thought it will cost me more than $299.

I ordered the 16GB black one, which is the same size and color I have now. I currently use only about 10GB anyway. $100 extra for twice the size was appealing, but I couldn't justify it. In fact, I couldn't justify buying a new one, but I did it cause I am an Apple fan boy that is a sucker for new gadgets.

It started with the Treo. I had the Treo 650 and then I had to get the Treo 700p for the ability to talk on the phone and use the internet at the same time (tethering was key then). Then a year later, I caved and bought the original iPhone, then a year later, I line waiting and purchased the iPhone 3G.

Today, I pre-ordered the iPhone 3GS online and Apple promises to deliver it to my office on June 19th, the same day it becomes available in stores.

No one in my office is surprised I bought the new one. None of my friends or family are surprised either. I am so cheap when it comes to certain things, but with gadgets, I am such a sucker.

Fake ReTweets Not From Me On Twitter

Over the weekend, several people, including myself, was hit with fake retweet spam. I should probably step back and explain what a retweet (RT) is. On Twitter, if someone likes what you say, they may retweet your tweet. The way it works is that you copy what the person said and say RT @rustybrick either before or after the copied Tweet.

The issue with this is that retweets is that there is really no way to know quickly if the person being retweeted really said what was being retweeted. I guess this is the same issue in real life. When you say, person A said XYZ about something, the only way to know for sure is to find what person A really said about it in writing or ask him directly. On Twitter it is a bit easier, cause you can basically look at that person's timeline and see if he said that or not.

So some spammer went ahead and retweeted something I and others did not tweet. It lead to some spammy site selling something. Danny captured screen shots of it for the sengineland Twitter account:

Pretending To Retweet

I then saw people asking me on Twitter if I said that.

For example, @doc_haliday said:

@rustybrick I really hope you are not responsible for all the douchbags RTing your tweet about some scheme and spamming trending topics.

No, I did not.

It appears like Twitter killed those accounts and the spam has been removed. But with real time services like Twitter, the damage has already been done.

Before Emailing, Please Think About My Inbox

apple-mail.jpgYou've seen those email signatures before. The ones that read, "before printing, please think about the environment." All that fun green stuff that was the cool thing to do before the recession.

Here is a picture:

Before printing, please think about the environment

What bugs me is when people send me useless emails that I wouldn't consider printing, yet alone storing on my hard drive and clogging up my inbox.

Honestly, I want to use a signature that says something like:

Before emailing, please think about my inbox

I make decisions with email, they are:

  1. Is it spam? If yes, hit spam button. If no, continue to step 2.
  2. Do I need to reply, really need to reply? Yes or no, and continue to step 3.
  3. Do I need to save a record of the email? If no, hit delete. If yes, continue to step 4.
  4. Decide which of my folders to store the email in.

This is all part of my email OCD issues.

Too bad comments aren't open, I am sure I would get a few.

What's Going on With Blogs?

As you know, I disabled comments on this blog and also my search blog. I am not sure exactly what is wrong, but it has nothing to do with comments.

It appears that when a blog post is rebuilt (published as HTML), it doesn't always produce the full html anymore. Every time a comment or blog post is added/edited a page is published in html. So by disabling comments, I can control if a page is republished as html, which helps me make sure the page's content is always visible.

I use MovableType which runs off CGI or some sort. It is hard to debug. If the issue doesn't fix itself, it started itself, then I think we will spend the next several days building out a custom CMS.

No, I won't use WordPress. I have dreams of how I want my blogging CMS to work and we can do it internally here at RustyBrick.

I'll keep you all posted on that. The main issue is that the new CMS would have to work across several blogs. There will be a lot of work.

Disabled Comments - Tech Issue

This is a quick technical note that I had to disable comments. I am not sure what is going on, but starting this morning, when comments are added, the post's contents would disappear.

So I have disabled comments for now.

I'll try turning them back on later to see if it was a temporary issue. If that doesn't work, then I might have to switch to WordPress or something custom.

Bought Powered USB Hub Finally

D-Link DUB-H7 7-Port USB 2.0 HubI have many peripherals for my computer and I don't have many ports. For years, my solution was to simply unplug devices that I am currently not using. That worked well, until now.

Now, I simply have too many must be on devices, where I cannot unplug something to use something else. So I finally caved and purchased one of the most basic pieces of hardware, a hub.

I purchased the D-Link DUB-H7 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub from Buy.com yesterday. Simple $25 device that should make my life just a bit easier.

Matt Cutts May Switch to a Mac Within The Year

Matt Cutts of Google is one of the few bloggers I know well that is still on a PC. I think he uses an IBM Thinkpad. In any event, I submitted a question to him via Google Moderator, when everyone else was submitting SEO questions, I submitted an Apple fan boy question.

Here is his answer:

Good Old WD-40 For Squeaky Doors

WD-40Since I had my first kid a bit over two-weeks ago, I been noticing that some of the doors in my house have been squeaking.

The squeaking door is probably less of a problem and annoyance for my kid then it is for me thinking it is annoying my kid, but it the concern of it being an annoyance is an annoyance enough for me. Whoa, long sentence. Running on little sleep, so pardon those...

In any event, I stopped by the local Home Depot and picked up a can of WD-40. The new WD-40 cans have what they call the smart straw, so you don't lose the straw. When using it, I felt, hey - that is smart.

In any event, a couple sprays and bingo, no more squeak.

Did that help the baby sleep better last night? I don't think so.
