My New T-Shirt: Stone Cold Dunkin’

A week or so ago, I saw a t-shirt on Woot Shirt that I had to have. Last night, I wore it for the first time while playing basketball.

Here is a picture of the shirt:

Stone Cold Dunkin’

I love donuts or I donut donuts :)

Either way!

Why did I wear it to basketball? Well, any pity you can get from the referees the better off you are.

Applied For Continental Presidential Plus Credit Card

Continental Presidential Plus CardI travel pretty often. So I was very into having an American Express Platinum card for the travel perks. Especially for the access to the Continental Presidents Club lounges and points to mile transfer.

As I told you in the past, I was planning on leaving AMEX for Continental Card because American Express and Continental are discontinuing their deal. So next year, AMEX won't get me into the lounges nor will I be able to transfer my points to Continental for airline miles.

I pretty much exclusively use Continental. The week after I blogged it, AMEX called me, sent me two letters and emailed me at least once. They basically are telling all their customers about the new benefits and we shouldn't leave AMEX due to the Continental non-deal.

Well, I am. I applied for the Continental Airlines Presidential Plus Card for Business and will slowly move my spending over to that. My AMEX renewal fee expires sometime in February 2011 but I want to see how this card works out prior to me dropping my AMEX Platinum card. So I am overlapping for a few months on purpose.

Are you a Continental flyer? What are you doing?

Clean Draw & Closet

In the walk in closet...Kendall got a new dress from Chris and JanelleAs some of you know, I tend to be very neat and orderly. I don't tend to leave things out and about.

But if you ever look in my drawers or closets, you will find a bit of a mess. It isn't horrible, but it isn't pretty.

My wife has been bugging me to clean out my closet for a while - well, we share one and it is pretty small. I don't dress well, so my clothing selection doesn't really matter to me. I blindly select at random clothing to where for that day at 5:30am and don't look back, nor in a mirror. When I come home, my wife shakes her head at me. So closets and what are in there, are not that important to me.

But like I said, I do not own the closet, my wife does. So she wants it in order. Yesterday she cleaned it out for me. And I got to tell you, it looks good.

I did my part by cleaning out my nightstand drawer. Things collect, no idea how they do, but they do and make it hard to open and close the small drawer. So now I can open and close it.

How about that!

My Biggest Emotional Reaction Ever

Red Bull Cans Invade My OfficeI was at SES Chicago most of the week doing the coverage stuff and I got back late last night. This morning, I got to work at 7am, which is normal time, ready to start catching up on work.

Typically when I arrive to my desk after a few days away, I find bills, checks, and packages I need to take care of. This time, I found my desk and floor covered in empty red bull cans! Jimmy posted the details at the RustyBrick Blog.

Below is a video of them setting up the room, speed up. Also you will find my priceless reaction. If you know me, you may think this is one of the biggest emotional responses you have seen on my face ever. Those who don't know me will think I am drugged a bit.

Note: There is black for several sections:

For more pictures and comments, see Arriving To An Office Filled With Red Bull...

I should note that this office has a history with Red Bull. Jimmy built a wall of Red Bull cans which resulted in us getting tons of free Red Bull delivered by Red Bull girls in a Red Bull car.

I Got A Gift For Boss's Day, Really

One of our newish coders here at RustyBrick came back with ice cream from Friendly's around lunch time.

He gave it to Ronnie and myself and said, Happy National Boss Day. Yes, it is Boss's Day today, I had no idea.

Here is a picture:

Wife, I turned it down...

EFTPS Spam Getting Ridiculous

EFTPSEFTPS is the way most businesses and many personal people pay all their federal taxes electronically. As a business owner, I think you have to pay taxes this way, at least for payroll taxes and some other frequent taxes. It also makes my life easier - because in the old days, I had to go to the bank to process these taxes.

In any event, recently, EFTPS phishing spam attacks have been on the rise. The IRS has a page about the scam dating back to August. Yes, I have received these for a while, but in the past week or so, it feels like I have received a dozen plus each day.

They look like this:

EFTPS Phishing Emails

The link obviously doesn't take you to the real web site. Instead you are sent to a fake web site, that appears to look like the EFTPS web site (I assume, I never clicked, but I did check the URL source). It likely tries to convince you to give over your bank account information and other personal/business information.

The spike in these emails is out of hand now.

Apple To Fix My Display

Apple Genius BarAs some of you know, the inside of my Apple Display is bent somehow.

Yesterday, my wife, kid and I all went to the Apple Store (my kid's first time being in an Apple Store) to show the Apple Geniuses the issue. Yes, I scheduled an appointment before going.

The genius guy looked at it and saw the issue right away.

He went to the back and came back and said they had to order the parts to fix it, for free.

They ordered a single part, the part is part number 661-4822. It is the LCD Panel, with LED backlight. Honestly, that is the the whole display without the frame. I looked up that part number on a retail site and it costs more than what the monitor sold for. It costs $961 for just that piece.

Of course, this is not costing me anything, since the monitor is less than a year old.

I am glad Jimmy caught the defect, because I tend to not notice things like that.

Plus, I think I have a dead pixel some where.

My Apple Cinema Display Is Bending Internally

While I was away at the SMX East event, Jimmy was sitting at my desk using my stuff. He was there because construction was happening in our office expansion plans.

While he was using my computer, he noticed something that I never noticed... My new Apple Display was bending from within. I am not kidding. If you look at the right side of the monitor, it seems to be warping internally.

Here are pictures from an iPhone 4 and a Canon SD1000 camera:

First picture I mocked up and drew a straight line down, so you can see how it starts to warp...

Apple Display Warping?

Crazy? I'll see about my warranty on this display.

& I Thought My Car Was Branded

I pull up to the office this morning before 7am and someone is in my spot!

And I thought my car was branded.

My Most Personalized Conference Badge To Date

I showed up to SMX East and they didn't have a badge for me. Happens from time to time...

Since the folks know me at these conferences, they wrote up a handwritten badge for me.

Here is a picture of it:

My SMX Badge

This is the most personalized conference badge I have ever received!

I wanted to keep it but eventually they gave me a badge with a bar code on it... I am labeled now...
